Category Archives: Village of the Damned

Something is terribly wrong with the Education ‘Village‘ of America – the complete breakdown of America’s government controlled education system through indoctrination and Socialism. Our children have become truly ‘damned‘ and will have little chance to truly succeed in this nation – UNLESS – the system can be overturned. Sorry Hillary, but the Village thing hasn’t worked so well – for the children of America. Welcome to the ‘Village‘ – where first we learn, and then we teach!

This category was so-named because of then First Lady, Hillary Clinton’s comment, “It takes a village to raise a child.” In addition to my feelings that our children are truly ‘damned‘ as long as this system is allowed to continue.

The ‘Village‘ is the place that I would not wish to be in today. I was privileged to participate in one of the last non-socialist school systems. Hell – I don’t know – maybe it had already begun, but I had great teachers. At 71 years of age – I can still picture and name over 90% of those whose care I was placed into. What we present here includes a range of commentary by a wide range of authors, which may well not fit into other designated categories. So here we provide, well – you know – “a little of this and a little of that!“

As the esteemed Dr. Rosemary Stein, M.D. has stated; The only way socialism has any chance in America is for the education system to push it in schools. Remember, the father of their modern education ‘Elite’ beliefs is John Dewey. Dewey was a communist, failed teacher who pushed what are now clearly failed education theories. Here is the quote of the day. “This militant crowd is comprised of uninformed and misinformed people looking at themselves as unfortunate, underpaid, underappreciated victims of capitalism, overwhelmed with jealousy that there are people who are everything they are not.”You are going to have to take ownership over the education of your children ~ Rosemary Stein, MD

In the words of Jaime Escalalante ~ “I tell my students, you do not enter the future – you create the future. The future is achieved through hard work.”

Let us guide our children towards creation – of the future. The time is past due for we the people to take back the responsibility of who raises and who teaches OUR children.. and with YOUR help, and the words of our contributors, we will do our best to bring your children to the world which they deserve to live in. ~ Jeffrey Bennett, Kettle Moraine Publications

History as a (Leftist) Weapon

There is a tendency for each generation to assume its opinions are the ultimate correct opinions. But each generation’s beliefs are typically modified by succeeding generations. Unfortunately, societal structures are sometimes altered based on contemporary notions that lose credence over time. This is the case with Social Justice Warriors in this generation. They demand that whatever doesn’t suit present-day social theories must be “eliminated.”

One of the justifications for this cultural cleansing is this generation’s historical interpretation of the War Between the States (WBTS). Some assume that this current version – moral opposition to slavery caused the North to fight the South – has a long-standing consensus among historians. But this is only one of countless interpretations historians have produced over the years. Various historians, writing at different times and places, have created diverse interpretations of the WBTS. These history reinterpretations are often influenced by major events occurring in later generations. Continue reading

Young Minds Are Undermined by Today’s Fashionable Philosophies

If there’s a rise in suicides and depression among young people, maybe we should be looking at the philosophy being promoted everywhere that influences kids.

Rates of teenage depression and suicide in America are rising. Attempts to explain this increase have centered around ideas that are now pervasive in academia and entertainment media: identity politics, victim-culture, the unearned “self-esteem movement,” and the dreaded post-modernism (as it applies to philosophy and the humanities, not the arts).

I contend that a lot of these ideas ultimately serve to destabilize young people’s sense of their own individuality and wreck their ability to deal with reality in ways that are most likely to leave them depressed and despondent. Continue reading

Written by the Winners: U.S. High School History Curricula and Declining Civic Life

NOTE: this is one of those posts which will please some and anger others, however to offer the good, the bad and the ugly – as we have promised to do – we post the following to demonstrate a mind-set within the education system – and more – from outside of it. We would like to witness this author teaching in a classroom. ~ Ed.

In the fall of 2014, hundreds of high school students in Jefferson County, Colorado, walked out of class to protest their newly elected conservative school board’s proposed curriculum-review committee calling for the promotion of “positive aspects” of the United States and its heritage and the avoidance of material encouraging “civil disorder, social strife or disregard of the law.” The proposed committee was also to be charged with ensuring that Advanced Placement (AP) US History materials “promote citizenship, patriotism, essentials and benefits of the free enterprise system, respect for authority and respect for individual rights.” Continue reading

Study of American History is Losing its Priority

It was a news item that came and went with barely a ripple. And yet, it should have set off sirens and red-light alarms all across the country.

“America’s top liberal arts schools skip U.S. history,” the headline read. “Of the 29 top-ranked liberal arts colleges,” reported Fox News, “only the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Military Academy, and the United States Naval Academy require a survey course in American history.”

And why should the alarms have sounded? Continue reading

DISGUSTING: Ohio Schoolwork Exposed by Shocked Parents!

When we talk about the future of this very nation, nothing is more important that making sure that our children value education of one type or another.

This doesn’t mean that every young boy and girl is cut out for Harvard, Yale, or a Vanderbilt. In today’s reality, vocational education is more important than ever with a coming shortage of machinists, welders, and fabricators on the horizon. Continue reading

Juntti: The NEED for Blue Collar Workers

February 14, 2014 ~ Last night I saw a short interview of several people on the topic of there being a huge need for workers who can DO SOMETHING other than pass around paper or sit on a computer.

One man talked about the need for mechanics – plumbers – electricians – you know, BLUE COLLAR JOBS that do not require a college education to do.

Another mentioned the NEED and then talked about how the schools are not doing the job to TRAIN UP new workers and how the Child Labor act did away with the in-house training of young people to learn how to do these jobs.

All this brought about the **need** (NOT) for foreign workers to fill these positions that Americans aren’t filling. It also brought about the low paying jobs that are paid to foreign workers (ILLEGALS in many cases) which is supported by the Farm Bureau and The Chambers of Commerce. Continue reading

How John Dewey ‘Deadened the Souls‘ of America’s Children

If Horace Mann set out education’s goals, it was John Dewey who provided the progressive methodology.

             John Dewey

The story of American public education begins with Horace Mann. It was Mann who popularized the idea that American schools should teach all students, be non-sectarian, and tax-supported. A little less than a half-century passed between Mann’s death and the advent of John Dewey.

That half-century may well be the most dynamic period of American History. In Horace Mann’s world, schools were small, scattered, and teachers had to teach a small number of widely-varied students in one-room schoolhouses. By 1900, there were still many rural schools, but the United States was quickly becoming an urban nation. Continue reading

Why America Shouldn’t Make College ‘Free

‘FREE’ from Col. Sanders

How often are we told by our friends on the left that America ought to follow the lead of Europe, specifically western Europe, and make college “free”? Pretty often, by my reckoning.

In the waning years of my community college teaching days a student raised that very matter on the first day of class. Obviously, it was much too early in our teacher-student relationship for me to know anything about his politics—or for him to know anything about mine. (Actually, mine were kept as much to myself as possible from the first day of class to the last.) But he soon proved himself to be very much on the left. As time went by, he also demonstrated that he was a very solid student, a polite and engaging young man, and a valuable member of the class.

So just what was his question? Continue reading

Ross: In Memoriam of All We Have Lost

“A nation is not defined by its borders or the boundaries of its land mass rather, a nation is defined by adverse people who have been unified by a cause and a value system and who are committed to a vision for the type of society they wish to live in and give to the future generations to come.”

September 11, 2017 ~ The above quote was not made by any of our Founding Fathers; it was not made by an American for that matter. The above quote was made by a Nigerian woman; a lawyer and the founder of House of Tara International; a makeup and bridal directory. Yet, although that quote was not made by an American, this woman gets what I’ve been trying to get across to people for quite some time; that America was founded upon certain principles and beliefs, and that unless we return to those principles and beliefs things are not going to improve for the better. Ewart: It Would Appear That Representative Government Is Dead

NOTE: Given all that we have been posting under Birth of a Nation (1633 – 1800) these past days, the following by long-time contributor shares with the reader – EXACTLY what the Founding Father’s were attempting to prevent. ~ Ed.

“Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.” ~ Thomas Jefferson

While trying to come up with a subject for our weekly column, America’s immigration dilemma started doing ever-tightening circles in our mind. It is a dilemma that has been coming at legal Americans like a slow-moving freight train for several decades and it now may have reached the point where it cannot be fixed politically. The illegal immigration freight train has become a run-away! Continue reading

Heritage: Return school discipline control to local level

An education policy analyst is calling on Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to do away with an Obama-era regulation dealing with school discipline.

The Obama administration issued a controversial “Dear Colleague” letter on school safety and student discipline in 2014, taking most control away from local schools. For those who value local control, it was considered a federal overreach. Now the DOE is reportedly considering a compromise measure proposed by the Thomas B. Fordham Institute. Continue reading

Conservative Students Feel Pressure To Self-Censor To Succeed On Campus

“Student learning is derailed when students perceive a need to censor their beliefs or write on an exam what they think a professor wants to hear.”

A new study reveals that conservative college students cope with left-leaning professors by self-censoring during class discussions and parroting their professors’ political views on homework assignments.

The study, “Students’ Religiosity and Perceptions of Political Bias: Some Empirical Lessons for Sociology Professors,” was led by Jeremiah Wills, a political science professor at Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina. Continue reading

MORE GOVERNMENT, PLEASE: 2K+ Teachers in NC Can’t Do Basic Math

How is it that America, this nation of ingenuity like no other, we still can’t seem to find a way to educate our children in a proper manner?

As a species, mankind quickly figured out the idea of exponential progress back in some paleolithic era, at the advent of tool-making tribes out in the wildernesses of this ancient land. We saw a problem that could be solved by indirect invention. We then taught those skills to our young, who improved on them as they gathered and shared these individual clans’ ingenious solutions. And on and on, forever and ever, until we have airplanes, and computers, and space travel. Continue reading

Put Away Your Racist Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

On ‘white bread’ no-less…

November 22, 2013 ~ My fellow Americans, the “subtle language of racism” you’ve been hiding inside your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches has been exposed. These biased and ethnocentric eating habits are oppressing minorities. Such intolerance and racist behavior can no longer be tolerated in our public schools. Shame on you!

The Portland Tribune reports that Verenice Gutierrez, principal of Harvey Scott K-8 School in Portland, has discovered this racist travesty destroying the very fabric of our society. The “seemingly innocent” peanut butter and jelly sandwich is a cleverly hidden weapon used to promote racism… Continue reading

Schrock Taylor: Literacy’s Last Hurrah

July 28, 2018 ~ Some weeks ago, I received a note from this dear lady, teacher, EDUCATOR, author and amazing friend. The occasion was the announcement that I would be closing the Federal Observer after seventeen years (a decision we have abandoned). Linda was an integral part of it’s formative to mid-years. Like the writers of older days, Shakespeare, Dickens, Melville, Hemingway, Fitzgerald and so may others – Linda Schrock-Taylor stands up at the front of her kind. Her teaching never gets old. Her commentary is as fresh today at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year as it was when written seven years ago – and I fear that it will still be fresh decades from now – UNLESS WE – the parents, grandparents and the REAL teachers of this nation – stand up and not demand… but MAKE the necessary changes. ~ Ed.

History Textbooks Now Emphasize Minority Activities and Neglect Events With Major Consequences

June 21, 2011 ~ Children are not learning the history of their country, the school subject at which America’s young perform at their worst.

On history tests given to 31,000 pupils by the National Assessment of Education Progress, the “Nation’s Report Card,” most fourth-graders could not identify a picture of Abraham Lincoln or a reason why he was important.

Most eighth-graders could not identify an advantage American forces had in the Revolutionary War. Twelfth-graders did not know why America entered World War II or that China was North Korea’s ally in the Korean War.

Sex-ed classes and the assault on our children’s innocence

~ Foreword ~
The following was written by Dr. Michael Brown and published by OneNewsNow in December of 2012. The two-part series no longer appears in their archives, nor have we been able to locate it elsewhere. There is a reason that we have kept columns of just such importance. Dr. Brown was far ahead of the curve on this issue – the Public FOOL System has stooped to even further depths since Dr. Brown’s commentary was published – nearly six years ago. ~ Ed.

PBS: the un-American classroom

Soon after the horrific bombing of the World Trade Center, I happened upon a television production of the history of Islam presented by PBS, an American public broadcaster and television program distributor, self-declared as “America’s largest classroom.” This trusted provider of television programming reaches 350 member-television stations, educational institutions, non-profit groups tied to public schools, college educational institutions, and state-government-owned or -related entities. The narrator of the History of Islam, Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, was already recognized for his outrageous proposal to establish a triumphal rabat-style mosque on Ground Zero. He’d hoped to name it Córdoba to echo Islam’s conquest of Spain in 711 AD. Continue reading
